Inventory

Read the stock summary

Summary totals your inventory levels by catalog item, location, option value or classification, so you can answer “how much Jade do we have?” without adding up rows yourself.

Group stock totals

  1. Open Inventory, then select Summary.
  2. In Group stock by, choose Catalog item, Location, an option such as Material, or a classification such as Category.
  3. To narrow the totals, choose a location in Filter location, or an option in Filter option and then one of its values.

Each row shows a group with its base unit, On hand, Committed, Available and Shortage, and how many inventory levels it covers. The page shows 30 groups at a time, with page controls below.

For example, grouping by Material shows one row for Jade and one for Granite, each totalling every location’s stock of the inventory items their SKUs use.

Read the grand totals

Distinct stock grand totals below the table add up every inventory level in the report once per base unit, such as “each: 54 each on hand · 6 each committed · 48 each available”. Different units, such as each and pack, are never added together.

How groups are formed

  • Stock belongs to a catalog item, option value or classification through the SKU stock sources that use its inventory item.
  • An inventory item used by SKUs of more than one catalog item is grouped as Shared across catalog items; one no SKU uses is grouped as Unlinked.
  • Stock whose SKUs have different values of the chosen option is grouped as Multiple option values; stock with none is Unspecified. Items without a term in the chosen classification are Unclassified.
  • When an inventory level appears in more than one group, the summary says “Some inventory levels appear in multiple groups”. The grand totals still count it once.

What to know

  • If any inventory level in a group has never been counted, that group’s on-hand, available and shortage show Unknown, and the levels column shows how many are unknown. Unknown is never counted as zero.
  • The summary shows current stock only. Incoming purchase quantities appear on each purchase order.
  • A report can cover up to 10,000 inventory levels. Above that, Biosphere asks you to narrow it by location or option.
