Finding your way

Search pages and run commands

Press Cmd-K or Ctrl-K on any page to jump to a page, change the theme, run an app control or start a chat with Scout.

  • Press Cmd-K or Ctrl-K.
  • Or select Search or ask… at the top of the sidebar. In the collapsed sidebar and on a phone, select the search icon.

Press the shortcut again or Esc to close search. You return to where you were.

Go to a page

  1. Open search and start typing, such as “levels” or “audit”.
  2. Use the Up and Down arrow keys to highlight a result and press Enter, or select the result.

Search matches page names and the words people use for them: “customers” finds Contacts, “warehouses” finds Locations and “stock” finds Inventory. An exact name or word comes first. Results are grouped under Actions, Workflows, Utilities, Settings, Appearance and App controls.

Start a Scout chat

  1. Open search and type your question.
  2. Choose the row that begins Start a chat. Scout opens full screen and answers your question.

With nothing typed, choose Start a chat to open a new, empty conversation. If the question cannot be sent, it stays in the search box so you can try again. Starting a chat needs Scout to be turned on for your business.

Change the theme

Type “theme” or “dark”. The commands Use light theme, Use dark theme and Use system theme change the theme, and the one in use is marked Current. They change the same setting as the company menu and Configure → General.

Run an app control

The App controls group holds:

  • Collapse sidebar or Expand sidebar on a computer, or Open navigation on a phone.
  • Back to app, while you are in Configure.
  • Company menu, which opens the company menu.
  • Sign out.

What search does not find

Search finds pages and commands, not records. To find a record, use the search on its own page: Contacts, Sales orders, Purchase orders and Locations search by name or reference. Or ask Scout, which can look records up for you.
