Review inventory value
Open Reporting, then Inventory value to see what the stock you hold cost, by stock item or by location. Values use USD and each foreign purchase’s saved purchase-date exchange rate.
Read the report
- On hand is the quantity whose cost is known.
- Value is what that stock cost, first in, first out: what remains is valued at the cost of the newest batches.
- Without a cost counts stock that has no known cost. It is never valued.
Choose By location to see where value sits, and search to find an item.
Fix incomplete costs
Select Incomplete costs to list every reason a cost is unknown, with the stock item and location to fix:
- No unit cost recorded: stock arrived without a purchase. Record a unit cost on the stock item.
- Used before stock arrived: stock left before any batch covered it. It is costed when the next batch arrives.
- Before the first count: a movement predates the first physical count, so the count replaces it.
- Receipt without a cost: review the purchase price and its saved exchange rate.
- No unit cost recorded can also require a saved USD rate for a foreign opening cost.
What to know
Values are purchase order prices, including spread freight and duty, and are provisional until supplier bills are recorded. They are calculated live, so a corrected receipt or count changes them immediately.
