Review business financials
Open Reporting, then Financials to see sales, cost of goods sold and profit for a period. Choose the period and group the report By month, By project, By customer or By item. Reports use USD. Foreign purchases and sales use their saved transaction-date exchange rates. Days follow the business time zone in Business settings, so a sale made late in the evening counts on that day for everyone.
Read the figures
- Net sales is merchandise after discounts, recognized when stock ships or a non-stock line is confirmed delivered.
- Cost of goods sold is what those goods cost, recognized on the same event.
- Gross profit is net sales minus cost of goods sold.
- Inventory adjustments are stock lost or found in counts and adjustments, at its cost.
- Other Project costs are reviewed costs recorded on Projects.
- Result after adjustments and other costs subtracts both from gross profit. It is not net profit: overheads are not recorded in Biosphere.
- Ordered is the value of confirmed orders by order date. It is pipeline, not revenue.
- Cash received is Checkout and recorded payments, net of refunds and voids, on the day the money moved.
Select an amount to see the records it adds up. A payment for a whole order is never split across Projects or items; it stays in the order’s own group.
When figures are incomplete
Incomplete means some cost or exchange rate is missing. The dependent figures stay empty instead of showing a margin that is too high. Select the incomplete count to see the lines and why.
Imported orders that were never fulfilled in Biosphere are counted in Ordered and noted as not costed.
Issue a report
Select Issue report to keep an exact copy of the report as it is now, with its period, grouping and a fingerprint of the records it read. Open Issued reports to see every issued copy and Download CSV. Records changed since means history has changed after the report was issued; the issued copy itself never changes.
What to know
This is an operational report, not a closed accounting period: editing history changes it immediately. Costs are purchase order prices and are provisional until supplier bills are recorded.
Review a foreign transaction
Open the purchase or sales order and its USD reporting section. Its original amount stays in the supplier or customer currency. Select Set exchange rate, enter USD per one unit of the original currency, name the rate source and give a reason. Use the order-date rate. Review rate records an explicit correction and keeps its history. Today’s rates do not change earlier purchases.
Rates are reviewed manually in this release. Actual bank fees and later exchange differences are separate from purchase-date reporting costs.
