Review order cost and margin
A sales order shows what its goods cost and what it earned. Open Sales orders and select an order, then open Cost and margin.
Read the figures
- Revenue shipped is the shipped quantity at its price, net of discounts.
- Cost of goods sold is what the shipped goods cost, recognized when stock ships or a non-stock line is confirmed delivered at the final site.
- Gross profit is revenue minus cost of goods sold, with its margin.
- Cost still to ship estimates the cost of open quantities from the batches that would be used next.
Revenue and cost are recognized on the same event, so an order never shows revenue without its cost.
See which batches a line used
Select the batch count on a line. Each batch shows its quantity, unit cost, purchase order and receipt date. Costed by a later batch means the goods left before stock that covered them was received, and a later receipt supplied their cost.
When a figure is incomplete
A line shows Unknown when some stock it used has no cost or a required exchange rate is missing. Costs and margin use USD; purchases keep their original currency and saved purchase-date rate. Margin stays incomplete until every cost and required rate is known. Record the missing unit cost on the stock item or review the purchase, and the order updates at once.
Imported orders with no fulfillment in Biosphere are not costed.
